NBA news: Stephen Curry will not be part of Team USA when they compete in the FIBA World Cup tournament this August. The national team has already finalized a formidable roster that will be led by the likes of Anthony Edwards and Tyrese Haliburton, to name a couple, and the Golden State Warriors superstar has opted to remain in the United States this summer as opposed to traveling across the globe for a grueling two-week tournament.
NBA News: Stephen Curry Reveals Steve Kerr Has Been Recruiting Him To Team USA
In spite of his absence from the World Cup, however, Steph has not given up on his dream of winning a gold medal for Team USA. That could come to fruition next summer when the national squad takes part in the 2024 Olympics:
“That’s the one piece of the resume coach (Steve Kerr) always likes to joke that I don’t have,” Curry told Malika Andrews of ESPN. “So he’s already kinda recruiting for next summer. … I have no idea what next summer looks like. It’s obviously an extra bonus that Coach Kerr’s leading that charge. I’d love to play for him any day of the week, so we’ll see how it goes come summer ’24.”

The fact that Steve Kerr is currently the head coach of Team USA will obviously weigh heavily on Curry’s decision to represent the nation next summer. There’s no guarantee that he will be participating in his first-ever Olympics this time next year, but he’s clearly not closing any doors.
NBA News: Giannis Antetokounmpo Also Searching For Glory On International Stage
If Steph Curry ends up joining Team USA for next year’s Olympics, then he’s probably going to get that elusive gold medal. In fact, the Americans will probably win it all with or without the greatest shooter of all time in the mix.
This is not the case for Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Greece national team. While the Milwaukee Bucks superstar is widely considered one of the top superstars in the game today, he just doesn’t have enough help around him with the national squad — definitely not at the same level as Team USA’s vast array of talents at their disposal.
In fact, Greece’s hopes of securing a medal in this summer’s FIBA World Cup rests heavily on Giannis. There has been some doubt regarding his availability for the upcoming international tournament due to injury, and it goes without saying that Greece won’t be much of a threat sans Antetokounmpo.
