The Milwaukee Bucks made their second free agent signing of the day on Monday evening. Not long after signing free agent center center Robin Lopez to a one-year contract, the team agreed to a one-year $2.7 million contract with free agent shooting guard Malik Beasley. Shams Charania of The Athletic broke the news on Twitter.

What Malik Beasley Brings to the Milwaukee Bucks
This is, without question, Milwaukee’s biggest free agent pickup of the offseason with the exception of Khris Middleton and Brook Lopez, their own free agents. Beasley is a dynamic scorer who has consistently been a reliable scorer off the bench for multiple teams.
Last season with the Los Angeles Lakers and Utah Jazz, Beasley averaged 12.7 points and shot 35.7% from three. As Charania noted, he led the NBA in three-pointers made off the bench.
That being said, Beasley has also been a near-20-point scorer when given the chance to start. Following a mid-season trade from the Denver Nuggets to Minnesota Timberwolves in 2019-20, Beasley started 14 games and averaged 20.7 points per game.
The next year, he started 36 of the 37 games in which he played and averaged 19.6 points while shooting 39.9% from three.
Due to his scoring prowess and ability to shoot the three, it is not out of the realm of possibility that he competes with Grayson Allen for the starting shooting guard spot. That being said, head coach Adrian Griffin may want him to come off the bench to improve that unit’s scoring ability.
