NBA news: On Thursday, our friends from Bleacher Report asked its Twitter followers who they thought should star in the next big sports documentary. They featured Kevin Durant and LeBron James in their post, which naturally, stirred a lot of interest in a possible The Last Dance-type of docu-series on either of these two superstars.
Durant caught wind of the post, and when a fan suggested that he deserves a documentary, the Phoenix Suns talisman had a rather unexpected response.
NBA News: Kevin Durant Does Not Think He Deserves Documentary
Given all that he’s been through in his career, a documentary about Kevin Durant would be amazing. The storylines alone would be a great premise, and a competent filmmaker could find himself creating the next big hit.
For his part, however, KD does not agree. According to the former league MVP, his documentary would be boring:

I’m not that interesting for a doc, I ain’t even joking this time

Fair enough. I guess a day-to-day type of documentary about Durant wouldn’t be that intriguing. However, if it revolves around his rise to superstardom with the Oklahoma City Thunder, to how he emerged as Public Enemy No. 1 when he jumped ship to join the Golden State Warriors, to how he walked away from the Dubs to link up with best buddy Kyrie Irving with the Brooklyn Nets, to his sensational move to the Phoenix Suns last season, then surely, that documentary would pique the interest of more than a few basketball fans out there. Now that I think about it, I would actually love to see a KD documentary in the near future.
NBA News: Giannis Antetokounmpo Does Not Have a Documentary — He Has a Movie
Milwaukee Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo is different. He doesn’t only have a documentary, but he actually has a full-length movie about his NBA journey. In 2022, Disney released the film Rise which documents Antetokounmpo’s real-life story. I personally haven’t seen it yet, but the fact that it got a 91% rating on Rotten Tomatoes and a 7.0 on IMDb makes me want to line this film up for the next movie night.
