NBA news: Remember when Giannis Antetokounmpo was trolled for owning a Google Pixel phone? This was during the 2022 NBA All-Star Weekend when the Milwaukee Bucks superstar busted out his Pixel to capture the festivities of that weekend on his phone. Apparently, the mean streets of Twitter got on his case for not owning an iPhone just like 95% of the millionaire athletes out there.
NBA News: How Giannis Antetokounmpo Became the Face of Google Pixel

Well, Giannis remembers that incident well — and for good reason. On Wednesday, the Bucks talisman was reminded of the clowning via a throwback tweet courtesy of NBA Memes on Twitter. Antetokounmpo caught wind of the tweet and decided to clap back in an epic way:
“Yea of course I remember the night I got clowned for having a Google phone at the All Star Game because right after @GooglePixelFC called me and wanted me to be the face for the next 2 years 😂😂” Giannis wrote in his tweet.

I don’t think it was intentional, but after Giannis was trolled for owning a Google Pixel, the tech giants decided to tap him up to offer him a sponsorship deal. I’m not entirely sure how much money was involved here, but given the magnitude of this deal, I’m pretty sure Antetokounmpo got a whole lot richer thanks to the Twitter trolls out there.
NBA News: Giannis Antetokounmpo, the Influencer

It goes without saying that Giannis Antetokounmpo is a pretty easy-going guy. He’s also not the type that documents all his activities on social media. Be that as it may, he has, albeit unintentionally, become one of the biggest influencers not only in the NBA, but in all of professional sports as well.
The fact that Google, one of the most prominent tech companies in the industry, decided to lock him up as a sponsor just 24 hours after he was seen with a Google Pixel phone on national TV is a clear testament to this fact. And I’m pretty sure the Pixel phone saw a significant bump in sales after that Giannis incident.
