The Milwaukee Brewers could look to target multiple positions at this year’s trade deadline. After addressing first base by adding Carlos Santana from the Pittsburgh Pirates, third base is another popular position that could use an upgrade. The Boston Red Sox have a guy that Milwaukee has been linked to in the past but reports are saying that he is staying put.
Milwaukee Brewers trade target Justin Turner from the Boston Red Sox will not be traded (report).
According to Rob Bradford the Red Sox have no interest in parting ways with Justin Turner. Boston had just signed him to a two-year deal with $21.7 MM being guaranteed. Beyond this year he has a player option for the 2024 season that is worth $13.4 MM and includes a $6.7 MM buyout.
This year Turner is putting together another strong season. He has a 2.0 bWAR, 123 OPS+, 16 home runs, and 66 RBI. If he continues on this pace he will put up some near career high numbers or perhaps even set a few new personal bests.
Currently the Red Sox have a 55-47 and are just a game and a half out from an American League Wild Card spot. It makes sense that Boston wants to hold on to him for he should continue to help them this year as well as in 2024.
