Milwaukee Brewers top prospect Jackson Chourio has been playing all year in the Southern League for the Biloxi Shuckers in Double-A. As one of the top prospects in all of baseball the spotlight is consistently on him and recently he has been dominating at the plate.
During the first half of the minor league baseball season the Southern League intentionally used ‘sticky’ baseballs as part of an experiment. With the use of these baseballs Jackson Chourio posted a .249/.304/.410 slash line. The league then switched back to normal mud baseballs after the All-Star break. This is when he started going on a tear.

Jackson Chourio, the Milwaukee Brewers top prospect, is dominating at the plate since the disappearance of pre-tacked baseballs.
From mid-July through today Jackson Chourio has posted a .434/.495/.723 slash line with five home runs, five doubles, and two triples. During this stretch he has also walked nine times, struck out on just 11 instances, and stolen eight bases.
Per Josh Norris, Senior editor at Baseball America, Jackson Chourio’s 36 hits since July 14 are the most in the minor leagues. He has also tied a home run record for teenagers in the advanced levels of the minor leagues that was set by Giancarlo Stanton in 2006.
All things are pointing upward for one of baseball’s top prospects. At this point he has proven that he is deserving of a promotion out of Double-A, so it will be interesting to see if/when Milwaukee elects to advance him.
