As expected, Patrick Beverley made quite an impact in his Milwaukee Bucks debut on Friday night against the Charlotte Hornets. It’s not as if the veteran guard hit a game-winner or anything, but there’s no denying that Beverley was able to make his presence felt in his first-ever appearance for his new team.
There were, of course, a couple of trademark Pat Bev moments in the 12 minutes of action he saw in his debut.
Milwaukee Bucks Coach Doc Rivers Reveals Hilarious Patrick Beverley Moment Vs. Hornets
Speaking after seeing his team blow out the Hornets, 120-84, Bucks head coach Doc Rivers was in a visibly amenable mood. This allowed him to speak fondly of one particular moment in the game that left the players on the court dumbfounded. This was after Beverley decided to call a play from Rivers’ old playbook:
“One thing he can’t do is call a play from when I coached him with the Clippers, that made no sense tonight,” Rivers said. “Which he did and then the other four guys were looking around, like, what?
“He called ‘Oklahoma.’ I haven’t had that play in my playbooks since I was coaching with the Clippers. It was pretty hilarious. They ran it, which is even crazier.”
As Rivers said, that’s hilarious. I guess Beverley assumed that Rivers had already added Oklahoma to the Bucks’ playbook, which obviously just wasn’t the case.
Coach Doc would have probably had a much different tone if Beverley made this call in crunch time of a close game.
