Even though the Milwaukee Bucks’ season ended in disappointment, the franchise still has two picks to use in the upcoming 2024 NBA Draft. One of those picks is projected to be used on Wisconsin Badgers star Tyler Wahl.
Before he spent five years in Wisconsin, Wahl first made a name for himself as a high school star playing for Lakeville North High School. He acted as the team’s number one option and led them to a conference title while earning All-South Suburban Conference selections during his time there.

After an impressive high school run, Wahl committed to the Badgers and played his first year with them fulfilling many roles, such as defending the opposing squad’s best player or acting as a point forward. Over the years, the Wisconsin star would evolve into an able two-way player that can do almost anything on the court.
By his fifth year in college, Wahl has shown flashes of being a credible forward who can defend and generate offense at the same time. Although his outside shot has left a lot to be desired, the potential to improve is still there for the Badgers star.
Milwaukee Bucks Linked To Wisconsin Badgers Star Tyler Wahl As Potential 2024 NBA Draft Target

Like Duke’s Kyle Filipowski or Indiana’s Kel’el Ware, Wahl is projected to be an athletic big that can develop as a shooter down the line. As such, the Bucks’ front office seemed intrigued by his potential, as written in an article by Dalton Sell for Behind the Buck Pass.
“Fans have their wish lists of players they’d like the team to select, but the latest name to be linked to the team was likely on very few of those lists. Per Jeff Potrykus of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, the Bucks have hosted Tyler Wahl for a workout. Of course, Wahl spent all five of his collegiate seasons with the Wisconsin Badgers, so he’s known quite well around these parts,” Sell wrote.
“Wahl doesn’t exactly fit what the Bucks are looking for right now, given their need for more athleticism and perimeter shooting from their frontcourt players. The 6-foot-9 forward shot a mere 23.2 percent from deep during his five-season stay in college, and he was far from the greatest athlete on the floor. He’s got potential to develop, but he’s far from a seamless fit for Milwaukee right now,” he added.
Back in 2014, the Bucks took a chance on Giannis Antetokounmpo as a raw prospect back then. The Greek Freak eventually developed into an elite two-way player down the line, leading them to a championship in 2021.

It remains to be seen whether Milwaukee spends one of its picks on Wahl or not. What’s certain, though, is that there is potential within the Wisconsin big man if ever he gets selected by the Bucks for next season.
