Milwaukee Bucks news: The basketball world is still mourning the death of Hall of Famer Bill Walton, who recently passed away after a battle with cancer.
Bucks guard Patrick Beverley has sent his condolences to Walton and his family, and the legend’s recent passing has inspired the outspoken guard to conjure up his list of GOAT announcers in the world of basketball broadcasting.
Naturally, Walton was on top of Pat Bevs’s list.
Milwaukee Bucks News: Patrick Beverley’s All-Time Greatest Announcers
According to Beverley and podcast co-host Rone, there should be a “Bill Walton Award” at the end of every season to honor the top broadcaster in the sport. That’s actually an excellent idea and one that the network giants can probably get behind.
Apart from being a legend on the court, Walton was also an icon off of it, particularly with his contributions to the broadcasting industry.
Along with the late, great Bill Walton, Beverley also included two ESPN broadcasters in Doris Burke and Mike Breen on his Top 5. He rounded out his list with award-winning announcer Kevin Harlan and former NBA coach Hubie Brown.
Beverley himself appears to have intentions of going into broadcasting someday, considering how he’s worked hard to make his podcast the success that it is today. He’s also made several guest appearances on ESPN, so perhaps this will be a career for the former All-Defense guard once his time in the NBA comes to an end.
