While there has been no official confirmation from the Milwaukee Bucks just yet, it appears that Giannis Antetokounmpo will be forced to sit out against the Indiana Pacers on Sunday in Game 1 of their first-round NBA Playoffs series.
Players from the team have been vocal about needing to prepare themselves for the distinct possibility of not having their talisman available to start the Pacers series, which further casts doubt on Antetokounmpo’s ability to recover from a calf injury in time for the series opener on Sunday.
Milwaukee Bucks News: Malik Beasley’s Message for Giannis Antetokounmpo
Starting shooting guard Malik Beasley has also come to terms with the possibility of Antetokounmpo sitting out Game 1 on Sunday, and perhaps even beyond. According to Beasley, the team remains confident in their ability to compete against Indiana with or without their cornerstone superstar:
“We know what we have to do regardless if Giannis is here or not,” Beasley said, via Jim Owczarski of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. “I think our team is deep enough to hold it down for him and when he’s ready, we’ll be at another level. So, just get ready Giannis.”
As Beasley said, the Bucks know what they have to do in terms of holding down the fort for as long as Antetokounmpo is out. They obviously would want to get him back as soon as humanly possible, but this is clearly out of anyone’s control.
Right now, Beasley and the rest of the squad just want Giannis to focus on getting himself healthy again as they look forward to another extended playoff run this term.
