Like All-Star point guard Damian Lillard before him, Brook Lopez’s NBA 2K25 dipped when it was revealed to the public. As such, an analysis has called the video game out for the disrespectful rating the Milwaukee Bucks big man received.
The Bucks recently made a significant move by extending Lopez’s contract for two more years at $48 million. This decision not only secures Lopez’s presence on the team but also reinforces his critical role in their strategy, especially as they navigate a competitive Eastern Conference.
Lopez, who turned 36 this offseason, has been a defensive anchor for the Bucks. His shooting prowess, with a 36.6% success rate from beyond the arc, provides essential spacing for stars like two-time MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo. Despite discussions about potentially trading him to adapt to a more versatile defensive scheme under head coach Doc Rivers, the extension reflects the Bucks’ commitment to maintaining a strong foundation for both immediate and future success.
While trading Lopez could have addressed certain roster needs, particularly in enhancing defensive mobility, his value as a veteran leader and consistent performer was deemed too significant to lose. The Bucks are focusing on optimizing their roster around Lopez, aiming for a deep playoff run.
NBA Analysis Calls Out Disrespectful 2K25 Rating of Milwaukee Bucks Big Man Brook Lopez
Just recently, the latest NBA 2K25 ratings were released and Lopez received a dismal grade of 80. According to Bleacher Report’s Grant Hughes, there’s really no reason why the Bucks big man should get that rating.
“Lopez’s rim-protection stats were still solid, despite the Bucks misusing him for much of the season. He held opponents to 55.7 percent shooting inside six feet, a top-10 figure among players who defended at least 7.0 shots per game at that range.
On top of that, Lopez’s 36.6 percent three-point shooting helped him remain in that tiny class of floor-stretching, shot-blocking bigs. Defensive anchors who can also space the court on offense are rare. Lopez is fading ahead of his age-36 season, but he’s still uncommonly valuable and productive on both ends. An 80 sells him short,” Hughes wrote.
Last season, Lopez averaged 12.5 points, 5.2 rebounds, 1.6 assists, and 2.4 blocks over the course of the regular season. He also shot 48 percent from the field, 36 percent from deep, and 82 percent from the free throw line in 79 games as the Bucks’ starting big man.
Fans will be keen to monitor his health and performance throughout the season, as his contributions will be vital for the team’s championship aspirations. In any case, Lopez will have the chance to stick it up to NBA 2K and prove how wrong they are when the new season begins.
