With the lack of tradeable assets at their disposal, the Milwaukee Bucks could look to free agency to address whatever needs they may have to upgrade their roster heading into the new season.
There will be a host of big names available this summer, but the Bucks just don’t have much spending power either to make a significant splash. One player that could prove to be an under-the-radar signing for Milwaukee is Philadelphia 76ers forward Kelly Oubre Jr.
Milwaukee Bucks Linked to 76ers’ Kelly Oubre Jr.
Oubre was a bit of a revelation in his debut campaign for the Sixers this season. He signed with Philly as a free agent last summer and ended up averaging 15.4 points on 44.1 percent shooting, 5.0 rebounds, and 1.1 steals in 30.2 minutes of action. He also knocked down 1.5 triples per game on a 31.1 percent clip.
According to Adam Zippan of Behind the Bucks Pass, Oubre would be a great fit for the Bucks in 2024-25:
“Shooting guard Kelly Oubre Jr. would be a dream scenario signing, but he will command big money, which Bucks might not be able to afford,” Zippan wrote.
As Zippan pointed out, however, money could be the main stumbling block for Milwaukee’s potential chase for the 28-year-old. Oubre played for Philly this past season on a one-year minimum deal, which might not be the case for him in 2024-25.
Oubre has played well enough this year to warrant a potentially bigger contract this coming season — one that might just price the Bucks out of the market for the electrifying swingman.
