On Friday night, the Milwaukee Bucks will take on the New York Knicks in the first NBA In-Season Tournament game. Not only will they be sporting a brand new City Edition uniform, but the court will have a fresh face on it as well.

What is the NBA In-Season Tournament?

The tournament is comprised of six groups – three in the West, and three in the East, that consist of five teams within each group. The Milwaukee Bucks along with the New York Knicks are in “East B” along with the Charlotte Hornets, Miami Heat, and Washington Wizards.

Each of the teams within their group will be play four Group games – one at home, and one away, between Nov. 3 and 28th. All 30 teams were selected into their groups randomly based on their win-loss record from the previous season.

At the conclusion of this Group Play, eight teams will advance to the Knock Out Rounds. Those teams will then be made up of six group winners, as well as two “wild card” teams (a team from each conference that finished with the second best record among all teams that finished in second).

The Knock Out rounds are single-elimination games across Quarterfinals, set to take place on Dec. 4th and 5th, and the Semifinals on Dec. 7, and then the Championship Game would be Dec. 9. The quarterfinals will take place in NBA team markets, but the semifinals and championship games will be played at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

The NBA has introduced an all-new NBA Cup. They’ve also brought in league honors such as MVP for the in-season tournament, and all-tournament team.

The Bucks will take on the Knicks for their first game in the tournament. This is the first of four meetings these two teams will have together this season.

Two will come next month when Milwaukee plays back-to-back games at Madison Square Garden on Dec. 23 and Christmas Day. The Bucks won all three of their meetings with the Knicks last season, and enter tonight’s game with a six-game winning streak against New York.

Milwaukee is looking to come back from a rather upsetting loss against the Toronto Raptors on Wednesday. The only player listed on the injury report for the Bucks was Andre Johnson Jr.

The Fiserv Forum has laid down the new court that’ll be used for the In-Season Tournament games, sporting the NBA Cup in the middle of the court and on each side along with the Bucks logo in the Great Lakes blue, that goes with their new City Edition uniforms. The middle sports a green color, that’s also seen on the sidelines and “FEAR THE DEER”, and “MILWAUKEE” are printed in the City Edition blue.
