Former Milwaukee Bucks guard JJ Redick has taken the sports broadcasting industry by storm. He has a highly successful ongoing podcast, The Old Man & the Three, which has paved the way for the 39-year-old to sign with ESPN as an analyst and commentator. In fact, Redick is set to join the network’s A-Team for the coverage of the upcoming NBA Finals.
The former Bucks sharpshooter is now launching a new podcast and he’s successfully agreed to a partnership with none other than the NBA’s all-time leading scorer in Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James.
Former Milwaukee Bucks Guard JJ Redick to Launch New Podcast With LeBron James
The title of their new podcast is Mind the Game, which is set to debut on Tuesday on YouTube and all other podcast platforms. According to Andrew Marchand of The Athletic, the show will have weekly episodes wherein LeBron and Redick aim to have “pure conversations” about basketball.
“It’s meant to be a very free-flowing conversation about the sport and about the game,” Redick said in a phone interview. “If you look at it in a very simplistic way, it’s just about basketball.”
Redick’s ThreeFourTwo Productions will team up with LeBron’s Uninterrupted production company to produce this potentially game-changing podcast. LeBron’s long-time business partner, Maverick Carter, is also involved in this new project.
“This is like two wine masters, sommeliers, talking about wine, not necessarily you or me arguing if I like Burgundy or Bordeaux better,” said Carter, the co-founder and CEO of Uninterrupted.
The show will reportedly start without any corporate sponsors as the duo aims to make the nature of the program “as organic as possible.”
“I’m really proud of what we’ve done to innovate in sports media,” James said in a statement to The Athletic. “… When I do a project, the only thing I think about is whether me and my friends would watch it. That is definitely the case with ‘Mind the Game.’ Everything doesn’t need to be designed for internet culture and clicks.”
