Milwaukee Bucks news: It goes without saying that there’s going to be a considerable amount of bragging rights for the winner of the NBA’s inaugural In-Season Tournament. After all, the winning team will forever hold the honor of being the first-ever title holders of what the league is hoping will be a permanent fixture moving forward.
The Bucks are definitely looking forward to taking home the title — as well as the prize money that comes with it.
Milwaukee Bucks Star Khris Middleton on IST Prize Pot
For his part, Bucks star Khris Middleton isn’t playing down the prize pot at all. Each player of the winning team will get to take home half a million dollars in cash, which obviously, isn’t a small amount.
“I’m sure the richest guy in the world would be happy to get $500,000,” said, via Jim Owczarski of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. “We’re all excited about that opportunity to get some extra cash.”
It’s not as if Middleton is the “richest guy in the world,” be he sure is up there when it comes to the top earners in the NBA. Just this summer, the three-time All-Star put pen to paper on a lucrative three-year extension with the Bucks worth $102 million.
As he said, though, another $500,000 won’t hurt at all.
Standing in Milwaukee’s way are the New York Knicks, who will be looking to upset the odds on Tuesday night. It’s going to be a single-elimination contest, and unlike a seven-game series wherein the stronger team usually prevails, the fact of the matter is that anything can happen in one game.
