The Milwaukee Bucks will have the 23rd overall pick in the 2024 NBA Draft and the Kansas Jayhawks have some projected first-round talent coming into the NBA. Milwaukee is scouting all sorts of options for that pick.
The Bucks need some young blood in the lineup that will help them in the present and the future. They don’t have enough young talent on the roster. A lot of other teams in the NBA have young talent whether that is superstars or role players.

Milwaukee has flamed out in the first round of the NBA Playoffs for the past two seasons. The Bucks hope to change that fortune in 2024-2025.
CBS Sports Mock Draft Has the Milwaukee Bucks Selecting Johnny Furphy From the Kansas Jayhawks With the 23rd Overall Pick In the 2024 NBA Draft

Furphy was a freshman for the Jayhawks this past season. He is 6’9″ and weighs 202 lbs. For Kansas this past season, he averaged 9.0 PPG, 4.9 RPG, 1.0 APG, 0.3 BPG, and 0.9 SPG.
Johnny Furphy shot 46.6% from the field and also shot 35.2% from three-point land. He also shot 76.5% from the free-throw line.

In the latest CBS Sports NBA Mock Draft, Kyle Boone has the Milwaukee Bucks selecting Furphy with the 23rd overall pick in the 2024 NBA Draft. Boone gave no reasoning as to why he has the Bucks making this selection.
Some of the scouting reports for Johnny Furphy by Sports Illustrated are as follows:
“A jumbo wing with the ability to space the floor, Furphy has many of the tools required to make it in the NBA. The Australian prospect stands at 6-foot-9 but possesses guard skills. As such, he can really play three positions, including off-ball guard and both forward spots. n the modern NBA, positional size and shooting are highly valued. Furphy has the height and release point to shoot over defenders. He also has incredible shooting mechanics and a jumper that seems very likely to translate moving forward. Not only can he shoot, but he can also handle the ball. This allows Furphy to be much more than a spot-up shooter, as he can put it on the deck and get to his spots. Whether it’s in the midrange or beyond the arc, he has the ability to shoot well on the move. Overall, he’s extremely fluid with the ball for a player of his size and leveraged his length well.”
The Milwaukee Bucks need some shooters on the outside. Johnny Furphy from the Kansas Jayhawks could compete for the starting shooting guard spot right away for Milwaukee next season if he were drafted by them. Milwaukee is most likely not re-signing Malik Beasley this offseason.
