The Milwaukee Bucks tip off their season on Thursday in a highly-anticipated matchup against the Philadelphia 76ers. The entire basketball world will be able to see Milwaukee’s newly formed Big 3 in action for the first time against a Sixers side that could be without one of their most important players on opening night.
At this point, it appears that James Harden won’t be suiting up on Thursday against the Bucks.
James Harden Missed Practice Again
According to NBA guru Adrian Wojnarowski, Harden was nowhere to be found in practice for the Sixers on Monday. This is not the first time the former NBA MVP has skipped practice for his current team as he continues to try and force his way out of Philly.
“James Harden remains away from the 76ers as the team prepares for practice today, sources tell ESPN,” Woj wrote in his tweet.
Harden has already made it abundantly clear that he wants out, but the front office has refused to green-light a potential blockbuster trade. Team president Daryl Morey has reportedly slapped his star with a hefty price tag, which has led to interested parties such as the Los Angeles Clippers failing to meet the Sxiers’ seemingly unrealistic asking price for the 10-time All-Star.
Will James Harden Play Against Milwaukee Bucks?
At this point, it appears that the Sixers will need to rely heavily on Joel Embiid to try and carry them to a victory in the Fiserv Forum on Thursday. According to Woj, the fact that Harden missed practice again on Monday likely means that he won’t be suiting up for Philly in their first game of the regular season:
“It is increasingly unclear whether Harden will be available to play in the Sixers opener vs. Milwaukee on Thursday, sources said,” Woj wrote.
To be clear, there’s still an odd chance that Harden ends up being available for Thursday’s contest. However, if I were a betting man, I would not put my money on it.
