The Milwaukee Bucks fell to the Indiana Pacers 126-124 on Thursday night. Milwaukee fell behind early, trailing by as many as 18 in the first quarter. However, the Bucks battled back throughout the game and led by as many as eight in the fourth quarter. Unfortunately, they ran out of steam and the hot-shooting Pacers were able to escape with the two-point win.
The story of the night, though, was two-time MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo. With Damian Lillard sitting out the second game of a back-to-back with calf soreness, Giannis carried the offense to the tune of 54 points to go with 12 rebounds and three assists. Perhaps most impressively, the Greek Freak shot 19/25 from the field and 16/18 from the free throw line.
It was as efficient a performance as the Bucks could have asked for, especially on a night that saw head coach Adrian Griffin ejected for sticking up for his superstar. Unfortunately, Giannis’ high-level of efficiency combined with the loss put him on the wrong end of NBA history.
Milwaukee Bucks Star Giannis Antetokounmpo Makes a NBA First in Loss to Indiana Pacers
As mentioned, Giannis shot the ball extraordinarily well from the field against Indiana. His 75% shooting percentage while taking so many shots is certainly a rarity.
As it turns out, Giannis’ shooting percentage, point total, and rebounding prowess led him to make NBA history, which would normally be a good thing, except that the key to historic moment was that the team lost:

This is certainly not the type of history Bucks’ fans were hoping for, especially when Giannis went into the fourth quarter with 42 points. Given how prolific he was on offense, many thought that the team’s single-game scoring record (57 points by Michael Redd in 2006) was within reach.
Giannis finished with 54, his seventh-career 50+ point game. Kareem Abdul-Jabbar holds the team record for 50+ point games with 10. Giannis’ career-high is 55 points, which he achieved last season. He also scored 54 points in another game last season.

He’s not a closer and shouldn’t even be a first option on any team in the league.
He’s the reason they lost. When he missed a FT with a little over 5 minutes left, he went into selfish hero mode and the net result was 9 negative plays and only 2 positive the rest of the way. He’s been the reason the rebounding is so bad. He missed a FT, a shot, got blocked by an SG, gave up 2 OREBs, a lay up, had a pair of TOs and a foul. His only positive plays were a single DREB and an AST.
Maybe he should remember how to pass and that he once used to trust his ‘lesser’ teammates.
Virtually ALL of his inefficiency came during the first and last 5 minutes of the game. He was awful for those 10 minutes.
I couldn’t agree more! He’s overrated with low IQ and is single handedly going to make the Bucks the biggest joke in basketball history. The Bucks got Dame for Giannis, hired Griffin for him. Griffin couldn’t coach high school ball and Dame is going to be demanding another trade before the deadline. I knew it was going bad when Stotts quit.
