It’s no secret that for things to work out as planned for the Milwaukee Bucks, Giannis Antetokounmpo and Damian Lillard have to be on the same page. Milwaukee’s new superstar pairing has shown flashes of brilliance in their first few games together but at the same time, there’s also no denying that this duo still remains to be a work-in-progress.
Milwaukee Bucks Stars Trained in Giannis’ House
We’ve all seen what Giannis and Dame can do on the court together and when they’re clicking, it’s a terrifying sight for the rest of the NBA. What we’ve also witnessed, however, is that these two still need to put a lot of work in in terms of attaining the right level of chemistry between them.
As it turns out, this is exactly what these two have been doing behind closed doors. According to NBA insider Chris Haynes of Bleacher Report and TNT, Lillard went to Antetokounmpo’s house this past weekend to train and watch film together:
“But those two are working behind the scenes trying to get things together,” Haynes said on a recent episode of his podcast with Marc Stein, #thisleague UNCUT (h/t HoopsHype). “I know Dame was at Giannis’ house over the weekend working out at his house, they were watching film, those two are committed to trying to enhance each other collectively. And then in turn, that’s going to enhance the team’s play. So they’re doing everything they can behind the scenes to try the make this situation be a successful situation.
“But it’s going to be a work in progress. You can see it you can even see it in a way as they’re not winning. The magnitude of like the Celtics have started off winning, so it’s gonna take time but nobody no organization, from players to coaches, nobody’s worried. But yes, it’s gonna take some time.”
Bucks fans will be happy to hear about how committed their two superstars are to the cause. Giannis and Lillard did not need to put in more extra work — they’ve had more than enough of that in practice — but both of them opted to reallocate some of their personal time in order to get a few more reps in together.
As Haynes said, however, we should not expect immediate results, though. These things take time, and Milwaukee supporters will just need to be patient.
They will get there.
