Milwaukee Bucks Fans Want Adrian Griffin Fired 4 Games Into 2023-24 NBA Season

The Milwaukee Bucks are 2-2 after a rough 130-111 loss to the Toronto Raptors on Wednesday night. It was truly a bad night all around, with Giannis Antetokounmpo posting just 16 points and four rebounds in 28 minutes. Damian Lillard, the Bucks’ new superstar point guard, had 15 points and six assists while attempting just nine shots from the floor.

Aside from the offensive struggles of their two superstars, Milwaukee’s defense was incredibly shaky, as evident by the 130 points they gave up. Toronto seemingly could not miss from three and were able to score inside the paint at will.

When the Bucks hired head coach Adrian Griffin during the offseason, many fans thought that the team’s defense would instantly improve. However, despite it only being four games into the 2023-24 NBA season, and despite the fact that two of their biggest stars are still ramping up after offseason knee surgery (Giannis and Khris Middleton), some fans are already calling for Griffin to be fired.

Given the number of empty seats in the Bradley Center just a few years ago, it is pretty evident that many Bucks fans now were not exactly die-hards to begin with. That being said, Bucks fans have grown accustomed to a certain level of success and seemingly are not willing to accept anything less than perfection four games into the season:

I’m watching it every other night. It’s true. Faster we get to Adrian Griffin getting fired, the better.

Can we get a boost on Adrian Griffin first coach fired

    — Badger (@BadgerBeatDown) November 2, 2023

These fans seem to forget that Coach Griffin was handpicked by Giannis. This is not to say the Bucks hired him because of how Giannis felt, but Griffin was the candidate the two-time MVP endorsed.

An early firing may also lead to an early trade request; just saying.

Well, Giannis is a complete moron who knows absolutely nothing about basketball, as evidenced by the fact that he thought Jason Kidd could coach (and Kidd was so dumb that he didn’t realize that 3 pointers are worth 50% more and that shooting 33% on them is equal to 50%, which is also true of Barkely). His choice of coaching is about personality, NOT tactical coaching skill (the best in that regard QUIT for obvious reasons days before the season started). It’s also obvious with Giannis still pulling his BS tactics on the FT line and still shooting them poorly. The ref has the right to speed him up and Giannis should be Shaq’s next fool for letting that bounce pass hit him in the groin (anyone notice that during the review, when he had ALL THE TIME IN THE WORLD to recover from the hit he took, he clanked his two FTs badly? it’s not about needing a few seconds more to recover from the hit; he’s got a goofy and terrible FT routine and he’s a BAD shooter). Giannis has coasted on athleticism and has not really learned how to play the game of basketball. He’s a TO machine worse than Westbrook. He has all the talent in the world and the most athleticism of anyone his size ever to play the game. He also has the least skill.

It didn’t help that they traded for Dame, who is looking washed up on offense and like the bottom 5 defender he’s always been. Beasley looks worse. And that’s with both of them exhibiting more effort on that end than they ever have before. Bobby doesn’t seem to be able to shoot from deep anymore and KM is looking like he might be washed up and that it was a mistake to give him that extension (Giannis making the GM moves is worse than LeBron, their egos out of control and believing they are so good that they can make up for any deficiencies in other players).

The obvious first step is to go with the youth. Marjon starting for Beas to make up for how often they both get beat. AJJ as the back up, because Cam really isn’t that good. This team needs athleticism and is still relying way too much on the old guys (except Brook, who is still playing great).

If he wants to keep his job, it may be time to start a mini rebuild (or reload). Move KM for draft picks. Move PatC for draft picks. The second unit shares the ball and looks better on offense and is more athletic and aggressive on D.

Dame continues to have never impressed me. It was a mistake when we had the best defensive PG in the league.

Giannis built a terrible roster that simply doesn’t work. Because he doesn’t know what he’s doing, as a player or a GM.

Griffin may have to go. He’s not a good coach and can’t work with this mess. Should have stuck with Bud.
