New Milwaukee Bucks head coach Doc Rivers is now 0-2 after Wednesday night’s loss to the Portland Trail Blazers. The Bucks were expected to take care of business in Portland against the second-worst team in the West, but clearly, the Blazers had other plans.
According to Coach Doc, there was one particular stretch that turned out to be the gut punch that led to his team letting this game slip away.
Doc Rivers Speaks Out on Milwaukee Bucks’ Poor Start in Fourth Quarter

The Bucks started off the final frame in the worst way possible. They turned the ball over six times, which was simply unacceptable regardless of who you’re playing against.
Because of Milwaukee’s inability to take care of the ball, the Blazers were able to extend their lead to 10 points early in the fourth quarter. As it turns out, there was no coming back for the Bucks from that point.
“You know, right now, so far in the two games that I’ve done we’ve had these two or three stretches in every game where we just have bad offensive possessions,” Rivers said, via Jim Owczarski of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. “And a lot of those bad offensive possessions are turnovers that lead to buckets. When you’re playing at a thin line the way we are right now, til we get our defense right and things like that, those change the game. I thought that was the biggest point in the game, those six possessions.”

I see no lies here. The Bucks pretty much dug their own grave in this one, and they just weren’t able to get out of it.
As Rivers said, this is something the team will need to address with a sense of urgency. Failing to do so could lead to catastrophic results.
