Milwaukee Bucks superstar Damian Lillard had himself quite a weekend. The seven-time All-Star led his team to back-to-back wins on Saturday against the Detroit Pistons, followed by a victory against the Houston Rockets on Sunday.
Even Dame himself agrees that he’s been on quite a tear of late.
Damian Lillard Catches Fire for Milwaukee Bucks
Fresh off his 33-point explosion in Saturday’s 32-point blowout win against a hapless Pistons side, Lillard kept his foot on the gas on Sunday against Houston. The seven-time All-NBA point guard tied his season-high in points versus the Rockets with 39 on 11-of-19 shooting. Dame also added five rebounds, 11 assists, and three steals, while also connecting on five out of his eight attempts from deep.
After the game, Lillard revealed that he’s hit a real groove of late:
“The last two games definitely felt different,” he said, via Jim Owczarski of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. “I think I had some good games before but it was just, I’m a shot-maker so the ball was going in. This is as good as its felt, in rhythm, the timing of how it’s happening, I’d say this is the best it’s felt.”
The fact that this is the “best” Dame has felt in some time should have Bucks fans fired up. Lillard has had an up-and-down start to his career as a Buck, but it now appears that he’s closing in on peak form — if he hasn’t already.
The fact that he’s gone 22-of-41 from the field (53.7 percent) and 11-of-22 from beyond the arc (50.0 percent) over the past couple of games is a clear testament to this fact.
More importantly, the Bucks have been stacking up the wins, with their victory over the Rockets on Sunday marking their fourth straight. It goes without saying that Lillard has had a lot to do with this recent streak.
