Damian Lillard had a much better outing on Wednesday night for the Milwaukee Bucks. The seven-time All-Star finished with 23 points on 6-of-18 shooting, two triples, two rebounds, five assists, three steals, and two turnovers in 36 minutes of play.
It was far from a vintage Dame Lillard performance, but there’s no denying that he played much better than he did on Monday night when he went 3-of-16 from the field for 13 points.
In the end, however, it didn’t really matter. The Indiana Pacers still came out on top, 142-130, to close out their regular season series against the Bucks, 4-1.
Milwaukee Bucks Star Damian Lillard Speaks Out on Performance Vs. Pacers
After the game, Lillard spoke to reporters to discuss his performance. While the seven-time All-NBA point guard was far from delighted with his outing, Dame wouldn’t go as far as saying that he struggled out there on Wednesday night:
“I had some opportunities that I liked I just didn’t make ‘em,” Lillard said, via Jim Owczarski of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. “I wouldn’t say it was a struggle because of them. Like I said I had opportunities that I liked it just didn’t go in. That’s part of it.”
For what it’s worth, Lillard is averaging 43.1 percent from the field this season and 36.5 percent from distance. Over the last two games, the 33-year-old is shooting 26.5 percent overall, while knocking down just 17.6 percent of his attempts from beyond the arc.
As he said, he’s had more than a few opportunities over the past couple of games. It’s as simple as his shot just failing to find the bottom of the net.
Based on the law of averages, Lillard should go off on Thursday against the San Antonio Spurs.
