Milwaukee Bucks point guard Damian Lillard was an NBA All-Star seven times before with the Portland Trail Blazers, but he never started in an NBA All-Star Game in his NBA career. It all changed on Thursday night when the Eastern Conference All-Star Starters were announced.
Lillard was named one of the five starters in the east to the 2024 NBA All-Star Game in Indianapolis, Indiana. Along with him, teammate Giannis Antetokounmpo is also starting and named team captain for the east. The other three starters are Tyrese Haliburton of the Indiana Pacers, Joel Embiid of the Philadelphia 76ers, and Jayson Tatum of the Boston Celtics.
At 33 years old, it was a long time coming for Lillard to be named one of the five Eastern Conference All-Star Game starters. When he was with the Portland Trail Blazers in the Western Conference, it was really hard for him to crack the starting lineup. A lot of it had to do with Steph Curry of the Golden State Warriors and other elite guards in the Western Conference.
Lillard finally got his chance to start and one of the names he possibly snubbed for starter was Jalen Brunson of the New York Knicks. So far this season with the Milwaukee Bucks, Damian Lillard is averaging 25.3 PPG, 4.3 RPG, 6.8 APG, 0.1 BPG, and 1.1 SPG, in 41 games played.
Lillard is ranked 16th in the NBA in PPG, 106th in the NBA in RPG, and ranked 12th in the NBA in APG. He has never been known for his defense but has been known for his lethal offense throughout his NBA career.
Damian Lillard of the Milwaukee Bucks Has Been a Big Addition For Them This Season
There is no doubt that the addition of Lillard this season has helped out the Bucks big time. They are 31-13 and the number two seed in the Eastern Conference record-wise. Milwaukee will be one of the favorites to win the NBA title this season.
Milwaukee has one of the most lethal offenses in the NBA this season because of Giannis Antetokounmpo and Lillard. It will continue to be that way for the rest of the season. However, it is a big honor for Lillard to finally be starting in the NBA All-Star Game this season.
