The prolonged Damian Lillard trade saga finally ended once the Milwaukee Bucks were able to strike a deal with the Portland Trail Blazers. More than a few folks were taken by surprise by this move, especially considering how the Miami Heat were considered the frontrunners to land the seven-time All-Star ever since he demanded a trade earlier this summer.
New Milwaukee Bucks Star Damian Lillard’s Miami Heat Confession
In a recent interview on SiriusXM NBA Radio, Lillard reiterated his desire to move to South Beach. The 33-year-old had already set his mind on joining the Heat, but for one reason or another, the Blazers front office just was not able to make it happen:
“I don’t think it was a secret that Miami was where I wanted to go when I asked for a trade,” Lillard said. “It was more of a thing when this conversation even started, where it was like, ‘We’re not going to be able to build this team out. We’ll help you get to where you want to go.’ And that was where I wanted to go.”

It’s not as if Lillard landed in a bad spot, though. He may not have gotten his initial wish of teaming up with Jimmy Butler in Miami, but he now gets to try out an immense superstar pairing with Giannis Antetokounmpo in Milwaukee.
In fact, some people might even argue that Lillard is now in a better position to win his first career championship with the Bucks.
