Jrue Holiday Helped Bring a Championship to the Milwaukee Bucks
The Bucks bid farewell to Jrue Holiday, who was acquired by Milwaukee in 2020 as part of a trade with the New Orleans Pelicans. Holiday then signed an four-year $134 million contract extension with Milwaukee with a player option for 2024-25.
Milwaukee won the franchise’s first NBA title in 50 years in Holiday’s first season with team. Holiday made his second career All-Star team last year, 10 years after his first selection. It is a NBA record for the longest time between All-Star selections for any player.
Holiday averaged 18.5 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 6.8 assists per game.
What Damian Lillard Brings to the Milwaukee Bucks
Lillard, like Giannis Antetokounmpo, is a member of the NBA’s 75th Anniversary Team, meaning he is considered on of the 75 best players in NBA history.
In the past, Lillard and Giannis had talked about playing together one day, neither wanting to leave their current team. After Lillard’s fallout with the Blazers, Milwaukee general manager Jon Horst went and got Giannis’ desired star.
Lillard averaged 32.2 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 7.3 assists per game last season. He has career averages of 25.2 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 6.7 assists.
He is under contract for two more seasons.
Milwaukee is presumably now working on contract extensions for both Lillard and Giannis.
