Damian Lillard Reveals What He Demands From Milwaukee Bucks Star Giannis Antetokounmpo

It appears that the relationship between new Milwaukee Bucks teammates Giannis Antetokounmpo and Damian Lillard has gotten off on the right foot. There seems to be an inherent mutual understanding between these two superstars, which is something that has to work if the Bucks want to reach their lofty objectives this season.

Lillard recently opened up about his current relationship with Giannis, and the former Portland Trail Blazers point guard revealed the one thing he will demand from his new teammate:

“I don’t want him to not be himself,” Lillard said. “I want him to be who he is and don’t worry about me. Don’t worry about not allowing me to do what I gotta do because I’m a thinker. I know how to figure things out. I know how to play this game. I know how to be myself in any environment.”

That makes a lot of sense. The Bucks have been built around Giannis and his abilities, and you could say that the addition of Lillard is a complementary piece for Antetokounmpo. The last thing Lillard and the rest of the team want is for the former back-to-back MVP to abandon whatever has been working for him over the past years.

    It Goes Both Ways

Milwaukee fans will be glad to know, though, that this is the exact same message Giannis had for Lillard. Based on Dame’s statement, it is clear that these two stars are already on the same wavelength:

“I said that to him, and he’s saying the same thing to me,” Lillard said. “Like, ‘Don’t worry about me. Just do what you do. Be Dame.’

“It makes it more comfortable as well when you got the guy saying, ‘Just do you.'”

Lillard firmly believes that his style of play “goes together” with that of Antetokounmpo’s. Well, we shall all find out if this is true soon enough.
