To say that Damian Lillard had an outstanding Milwaukee Bucks debut would be an understatement at this point. Everything went according to plan for the seven-time All-Star in his first game for his new team as Dame led the Bucks to a hard-fought 118-117 victory over a James Harden-less Philadelphia 76ers side.
Lillard ended up breaking all sorts of records in what turned out to be a truly memorable 39-point explosion in his Bucks debut.
Damian Lillard’s HUGE Milwaukee Bucks Debut

Dame got hot from the get-go and he pretty much never took his foot off the gas throughout the game. In the first half alone, Lillard already had 21 points. His opening-half salvo was already a joy to behold for Bucks fans everywhere, but little did they know that their new superstar was going to take it to an even higher level in the second half.
Dame finished his evening with a game-high 39 points on 9-of-20 shooting, with four triples, eight rebounds, four assists, and zero turnovers in 37 minutes of action. He was also pristine from the charity stripe, making all 17 of his attempts from the line.
As it turns out, Lillard’s incredible statistical output was unlike anything we’ve ever seen in the history of the NBA (h/t OptaStats on Twitter):
Tonight the @Bucks' Damian Lillard:
– scored 30+ points
– grabbed 8+ rebounds
– dished out 4+ assists
– made 15+ FT without a miss
– had 0 turnoversNo other NBA player has done all that in a game (since turnovers were first tracked in 1977-78). pic.twitter.com/vt6G7G3ii4

This isn’t just a Milwaukee Bucks record — although Dame did set a couple of them in his debut. As the above tweet indicates, literally no other player in the history of the game has ever reached these same heights.
Talk about a successful debut, right?
