The Milwaukee Bucks acquired Damian Lillard from the Portland Trail Blazers on Wednesday and Chris Broussard of FS1 spoke about it on the show First Things First on Wednesday afternoon right after the trade went down. Some people believe that they are now the favorites to win it all and he would happen to agree with them.
Broussard said on the show on Wednesday:
“The Bucks are the favorites in the league. This is what Dame has been waiting for. Dame, this is awesome for you. This is better than going to Miami.”
Those are very interesting words said by Chris Broussard about Lillard being traded from Portland to Milwaukee. All along, his preferred destination was the Miami Heat. Miami did make it to the NBA Finals a season ago, but they were the eighth seed in the Eastern Conference and the Bucks were the one seed in the Eastern Conference.
Milwaukee has won an NBA title over the last couple of seasons and Miami hasn’t since 2013. Giannis Antetokounmpo is also a better basketball player than Jimmy Butler. For the full clip of what Broussard said here it is:
“The Bucks are the favorites in the league. … This is what Dame has been waiting for. Dame, this is awesome for you. This is better than going to Miami!”

Chris Broussard Said Damian Lillard Was Going to Land With a Surprise NBA Team if He did not Land with the Milwaukee Bucks
Broussard added on First Things First on Wednesday with this surprising quote:
“I, like everyone else, thought he was going to end up in Miami. I talked to someone today that said Toronto was going to get him. The Heat didn’t factor in Dame going to a team like the Bucks or the Celtics.”
The Toronto Raptors would have been a very mind-scratching place for Damian Lillard to be traded too. This would have been the biggest trade Masi Ujiri pulled off since trading DeMar DeRozan to the San Antonio Spurs for Kawhi Leonard in the 2018 NBA offseason, which ended up in a 2018-2019 NBA Championship.
Toronto feels like a team that is not ready to win now, but the Raptors wanted to be good again in a tough Eastern Conference. Lillard is better off being on the Milwaukee Bucks with Giannis Antetokounmpo. Milwaukee will be the favorite to win it all this season. If the Boston Celtics had landed him, that would have been something else.
These were interesting words said by Chris Broussard yesterday on First Things First. Will see if the Bucks can win their second NBA title in four seasons.
