The Milwaukee Bucks shook up the entire NBA after they struck a blockbuster deal with the Portland Trail Blazers for Damian Lillard. Not to be outdone, the Boston Celtics countered by adding Jrue Holiday via a potentially landscape-shifting deal also with the Blazers.
Celtics Give Up Massive Haul in Trade for Ex-Milwaukee Bucks Star Jrue Holiday
Holiday did not come for cheap for Boston. In fact, they had to give up two key players in exchange for the two-time All-Star, with both Malcolm Brogdon and Robert Williams now heading to Portland. The Blazers are going to be on a full rebuild now that the Dame era is officially over, so it remains to be seen if they will opt to keep Brogdon or Williams.
The Celtics also sent two 2029 first-round picks in the direction of Portland, and it’s very likely that the Blazers keep those two assets as they look to build for their future.
Shannon Sharpe Shades Kristaps Porzingis, Celtics
One man who is not a fan of Boston’s Jrue Holiday trade is football Hall of Famer turned sports analyst Shannon Sharpe. In a recent episode of his Club Shay Shay podcast, Sharpe threw some shade on the Celtics and their decision to trade for Holiday.
Sharpe is well aware of what Jrue brings to the table. However, his gripe stems from the fact that Boston decided to part ways with Robert Williams as part of the trade:
“They did give up some of their size with Robert Williams,” Sharpe said.
“My question is, who you gonna put on Giannis? You gonna put Porzingis on him? You gonna put Al Horford on him?”
That’s a valid question. Sharpe also pointed out that the arrival of Lillard further complicates things for Boston:
“The problem that you have is that you can’t build a wall to keep Giannis out of the lane now because you have Dame,” Sharpe said.
This is an issue that not only the Celtics will face this upcoming season, but one for the rest of the league as well.
Sharpe wasn’t done. He then turned his attention to newly-acquired big man Kristaps Porzingis, who Boston will likely have to utilize against the likes of Giannis and Joel Embiid in the East:
“Man, at 7-foot-3, 117 pounds? … That man so skinny he can look through a keyhole with both eyes,” Sharpe said.
"At 7'3", 117 pounds!? … That man so skinny he could look through a keyhole with both eyes"

For what it’s worth, Porzingis is listed as 240 pounds. Sharpe was merely exaggerating to get his point across, which if you think about it, is truly a major dilemma for Boston.
