Milwaukee Bucks forward Bobby Portis was a finalist for the Sixth Man of the Year. Naz Reid of the Minnesota Timberwolves won that award this year. Anyhow, Portis is a fan favorite in Milwaukee and was one of the most important players on the roster this season.

When there were key injuries to other players, he stepped up into the starting lineup and performed well. Bobby Portis always brought the energy on the floor every single night. He was not one of the reasons why the Milwaukee Bucks flamed out against the Indiana Pacers in six games of the first round in the NBA Playoffs.
Milwaukee Bucks Bobby Portis Will Be On the Trade Block This Offseason

For teams who need bench depth, Portis will be one of the best names on the trade market. With Milwaukee having hefty contracts with Giannis Antetokounmpo, Damian Lillard, and Khris Middleton, they are going to need to make some trades this offseason.
Devon Platana of dairylandexpress.com thinks that Portis is one of three players on the Bucks’ roster who is on the trade block this offseason. Platana wrote:
“If the Bucks like how Lopez fits in their frontcourt, they could always decide to move Bobby Portis instead. The 29-year-old is under contract for the 2024-25 season at $12.5 million with a 2025-26 player options that sits at $13.4 million.
Portis, who’s been with Milwaukee since 2020, has become one of the NBA’s top bench players since joining the team, finishing third in Sixth Man of the Year voting in two of the last three seasons. One of those instances came last season as he averaged 13.8 points, 7.4 rebounds, and 1.2 threes on 40.7% shooting across 82 games with just four starts.
While a lot of Bucks fans don’t want to see the former Arkansas Razorback leave town, GM Horst might not have a choice. Milwaukee isn’t exactly overflowing with valuable chips, making Portis — who can score up close, rebound, and shoot off the bench — one of the more attractive pieces to potential trade partners.
More often than not legitimate difference-makers can’t be acquired with moving good players in return. If moving Portis means adding a third superstar or even multiple depth players, it’s a trade that must be made. After all, we already saw how a lack of reliable depth hurt the Bucks in their playoff loss to the Pacers.”
If they were to give Bobby Portis a contract extension, they would have to find a way to trade Khris Middleton. Middleton is 32 years old and has been injury-prone for the Bucks over the past few years. He signed a new contract with the Milwaukee Bucks last offseason.

Bobby Portis would be a better option for the Bucks to keep than Middleton at this point, but it is a business first and foremost. General manager Jon Horst would need to get a good return for Portis if he were to trade him to another NBA team.
The rumors about Portis being traded this offseason will continue to swirl. The question is, will Horst keep him or trade him? Portis is drawing interest from the Golden State Warriors.
