Bobby Portis and the Milwaukee Bucks made the most of their Saturday night, defeating the last-place Detroit Pistons in a thrilling 146-114 win. Portis took control of the court in the second quarter off the bench, scoring 31 points, the highest he’s scored in a Bucks uniform since joining the team back in 2020.
Milwaukee Bucks’ Bobby Portis Stole the Show
Just three days after being ejected from Wednesday’s win over the Indiana Pacers due to a little altercation he had with Pacers’ forward Obi Toppin, Bobby Portis was back in full-swing on Saturday to help lead his team to victory.
Off the bench in the second quarter, Portis scored 31 points and had 12 rebounds, both season-highs for him, but also Bucks career highs. The last time he had scored over 30 points was when he was a member of the Chicago Bulls back in 2018, where he scored 38 points against Philadelphia.
Portis was able to take advantage of a struggling Detroit team, being named the Bucks’ player of the game, and obtaining his third double-double of the year. According to Statmuse, Portis is only the 5th player in NBA history to reach the numbers he did in a game.
The power forward is averaging 12.4 points per game and 6.6 rebounds per game. In addition to his 31 points on 11-of-18 shooting, Portis was 5-for-5 on free throws, and 4-for-7 on three-point attempts in 27 minutes of play.
Bobby Portis has such an impact on this team that coach Adrian Griffin calls Portis the heart and soul of their team. He holds such immense value to this team, thanks to his shooting and rebounding powers.

“When it comes to the passion, his competitive spirit is contagious,” Griffin said. “Those guys have brotherhood. If you mess with one, one of ’em is going to step up, and it’s that all-for-one, one-for-all mentality with this group.”
