The Milwaukee Brewers Double-A affiliate team recently announced on social media that prospects Mike Boeve and Eric Brown Jr were removed from the Biloxi Shuckers starting lineup, but were in uniform in the dugout. This sudden change created quite the stir on social media and had one Washington Nationals fan account speculating about a potential trade.
Milwaukee Brewers prospects Mike Boeve and Eric Brown Jr were late scratches from the Biloxi Shucker’s starting lineup.
On Friday night the Biloxi Shuckers changed their starting lineup by removing 10th ranked prospect Eric Brown Jr and 13th ranked Mike Boeve. Play-by-play announcer and media relations personnel Javik Blake did confirm that both players were in uniform in the dugout, but Boeve not starting snapped his streak of 51 consecutive games played. On Saturday night Brown Jr was back in the lineup but Boeve remained on the bench.
A Washington Nationals social media account proposed a trade with the Milwaukee Brewers involving Mike Boeve and Eric Brown Jr.
The social media account District 9 caught wind that two of the Brewers top prospects were late scratches and that perhaps a trade was in the works. Their thought process was that both Boeve and Brown Jr could be traded to the Nationals in a deal for Jesse Winker. Yes, the same Jesse Winker that was just a member of the Brewers a season ago, struggled with injury, and statistically had his worst season as a professional baseball player.
Mike Boeve plus Eric Brown Jr feels like about correct value for Jesse Winker….
Doubt that’s what this is. But something to monitor. https://t.co/u0A7rXDFMu

Milwaukee Brewers fans feel strongly that this is not the correct value for Jesse Winker.
After his disappointing 2023 season with Milwaukee Jesse Winker signed a one year, $1.5 million deal with the Washington Nationals. This year Winker is slashing .265/.381/.412 with eight home runs and 34 RBI through 73 games. This does make him a possible trade deadline option for contending teams but the Brewers don’t need another outfielder and fans feel strongly that District 9’s assumed value for Winker is way to high.
Wayyy too much for Jesse winker when Brewers already have 4 young OFs and 1 more ready to come up in Garret Mitchell. Brewers won’t go for an OF

Why would Milwaukee ever trade for Winker

We have 0 need for winker cmon now let’s be realistic

In all likelihood Jesse Winker will not command a trade value of two top 15 prospects. A season ago the Brewers acquired rental player Carlos Santana for the cost of their 21st ranked prospect (18 year old international signee Jhonny Severino) and Mark Canha for a minor league pitcher. All this points towards Winkers actual trade value at best being one top 30 prospect, but it’s unlikely to come at the Brewers expense.
