Milwaukee Brewers rookie Brice Turang was optioned to Triple-A Nashville earlier in June. The second baseman/shortstop got off to a great start to the year while playing good defense at the major league level. Unfortunately his biggest downfall was his performance at the plate.
When Brice Turang was optioned down to the Nashville Sounds his Brewers manager Craig Counsell said, “The league has taught Brice some lessons here about offense. At this point it’s a time to, like, let’s just step back for a while, put you in a different environment where the pressure to produce is not so ‘there’. We can relax a little bit, work on some things while still playing. That’s what has to happen.”
Fast forward six minor league games later and Brice Turang appears to have found his power stroke at the plate.
A few weeks after being demoted, Brice Turang has hit home runs in three consecutive games.
Brice Turang’s home run streak started on Wednesday June 14 against the Gwinnett Stripers. He proceeded to collect home runs on Thursday and Friday with his most recent long ball being a walk off home run.
Brice Turang has homered in 3 straight. This one gives the Sounds their 6th walk-off win of the year, a series win, and caps off a fantastic night at the yard for a sellout crowd of 10,167. (Gladiator GIF of Are You Not Entertained?!). https://t.co/WT7N9nZUyo

Even with this power surge Brice Turang will likely continue to get consistent at-bats at the Triple-A level. Milwaukee currently has Luis Urias, Andruw Monasterio, and Owen Miller all rotating at second base, so promoting him after a few home runs does not make a ton of sense.
