The Milwaukee Brewers are less than one week away from Opening Day against the New York Mets. As we draw closer to the start of the 2024 season their big league Spring Training roster has been decreasing in size as well. Their most recent shuffling of players indicated that Joey Wiemer and Aaron Ashby will begin in Triple-A.
Joey Wiemer and Aaron Ashby will start the 2024 season off in Triple-A.
Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel was the first to announce that Joey Wiemer and Aaron Ashby were being optioned to Triple-A.
Joey Wiemer and Aaron Ashby have been optioned to AAA. Christian Arroyo, who has an opt-out clause this weekend, reassigned to minor league camp.

Wiemer, who struggled during his rookie season last year, has deployed a new swing this Spring. The basic statistics in his case are deceiving as his Cactus League numbers show a .200 batting average and .280 on-base percentage across 45 at-bats, but he has been making loud contact when the ball is put in play.
Ashby on the other hand did not pitch in the big leagues last year due to undergoing shoulder surgery early on. He too has not had good results this spring (in both major and minor league camp) and his velocity is just a tick or two below where it was prior to surgery. Even with Wade Miley scheduled to begin the year on the injured list it appears that the Brewers want Ashby to get some more work in before returning to a major league mound.
Which Milwaukee Brewers outfielders are left on the big league roster?
As the roster stands today Christian Yelich, Sal Frelick, Garrett Mitchell, Jackson Chourio, and Blake Perkins are the remaining outfielders yet to be optioned or re-assigned to minor league camp. Frelick reportedly will be the primary third baseman against right-handed pitchers and it was previously announced that Jackson Chourio would make the Opening Day roster.
Which pitchers are all left in the Milwaukee Brewers big league camp?
The Brew Crew still have some decisions to make regarding their pitching staff. Even with Ashby being optioned to the minor leagues they still have 16 pitchers in big league camp. One of those is Devin Williams, who will be placed on the injured list eventually.
Who’s left:
Pitchers: Bukauskas, Clarke, Hall, Hudson, Junis, Megill, Miley, Milner, Payamps, Peguero, Peralta, Rea, Ross, Uribe, Vieira, Williams, Wilson

IF: Adames, Bauers, Hoskins, Mona., Ortiz, Turang
