Keisean Nixon has recently drawn praise because he was one of the brightest spots in the Green Bay Packers’ 34-31 defeat against the Detroit Lions in Week 14.
The 27-year-old made several momentum plays to keep Green Bay close to Detroit. After a 70-yard touchdown drive to open the third period, Keisean Nixon intercepted Jared Goff and returned the ball for 16 yards to help set up a quick touchdown for Green Bay.
Nixon also broke up a pass intended for Detroit Lions wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown earlier in the game. The five-year pro cornerback and return specialist had the second-highest coverage grade among corners in Week 14, with a 76.4 grade from Pro Football Focus.
This season, Keisean Nixon has started 11 out of 13 games for the Green Bay Packers and played 93 percent of the defensive snaps. He is fifth on the team in total tackles (65), joint-first in forced fumbles (2), and has also notched six pass breakups (career-high).
Green Bay Packers’ Matt LaFleur applauds Keisean Nixon
Green Bay Packers head coach Matt LaFleur recently gave Keisean Nixon plaudits for earning the coaching staff’s trust by taking advantage of the opportunities he has been getting.
“I think he’s taken his game up another level,” Matt LaFleur said via Brandon Carwile of the Packers Wire. “He’s a guy that’s shown the ability and gotten better and more consistent in his football in terms of going out there and performing.”
“Kei’s a guy that we’ve got a lot of confidence in, and he’s shown the versatility to play not only inside but to go out on the outside. Not everybody can do that,” he added.
