Milwaukee Brewers and the rest of the MLB began their 2024 Spring Training on Saturday. The Brewers won 11-7 against the San Diego Padres.

There was news that came in on Sunday morning that the Chicago Cubs are bringing back a former MVP to the NL Central. Other than signing head coach Craig Counsell, the Cubs didn’t make any significant signings. This signing has left Brewers fans wondering if it will affect their team’s chances of making the playoffs.

The Chicago Cubs are bringing back Cody Bellinger. Bellinger won the NL MVP in 2019, beating out Christian Yelich. He would also rank 10th in MVP votes in 2023 as well.
According to reports, Bellinger is set to sign a three-year contract worth $80 million to rejoin the Cubs. As per the terms of the contract, he will receive $30 million each in 2024 and 2025 and $20 million in 2026. Additionally, the contract will allow him to opt-out after the first two years.

In 2023, Cody would have a stat line of 499 at-bats, 153 hits, 26 home runs, and 97 RBIs. .307 batting average, .356 OBP, and a .881 OPS.
Bellinger has played 37 games against the Brewers. He has stats of a .279 BA, 36 hits, 7 homeruns, , 26 RBI’s.
