The Milwaukee Brewers did what they needed to do this week. They took care of the New York Mets by beating them three out of four on the road at Citi Field in Flushing, N.Y. Milwaukee has another series on the road against a reeling team this weekend, the Pittsburgh Pirates, at PNC Park in Pittsburgh.
Milwaukee Brewers Travel to Pittsburgh To Face the Reeling Pirates
A few weeks ago, the Brewers faced the Pirates, and it was a big series then. Now, Milwaukee needs to take care of business once again against a bad baseball team who is reeling in the NL. Entering this weekend, the Brewers are tied with the Cincinnati Reds for first place in the NL Central with a 43-38 record.
As for the Pittsburgh Pirates, they are in third place in the division with a 38-42 record, and they are 4.5 games back of both Milwaukee and Cincinnati. This could be a series that, if Pittsburgh sweeps the Brewers, can change things. However, the Milwaukee Brewers could bury them for good in the divisional race this weekend.
The pitching matchups for this series will be Freddy Peralta (5-7 record, 4.65 ERA, 89 K) for the Milwaukee Brewers and Osvaldo Bido (0-1 record, 3.45 ERA, 18K) for the Pittsburgh Pirates on Friday night. Saturday afternoon will be Corbin Burnes (5-5 record, 4.10 ERA, 89 K) for the Brewers and Johan Oviedo (3-8 record, 4.06 ERA, 80K) for the Pirates. Finally, on Sunday afternoon, the pitching matchup will feature Colin Rea (4-4 record, 4.57 ERA, 57K) for Milwaukee and Rich Hill (7-7 record, 4.45 ERA, 80 K) for Pittsburgh.
