Sal Frelick had a great 2024 season for the Milwaukee Brewers but he knows there’s still something he can improve on.

His conditioning coach knows that, too, and so, spent the offseason bulking up so he can perform better.
The 24-year-old outfielder came to the spring training 25 pounds bigger than he was at the end of the last season.
“I don’t know if it’s the best shape of my life, but I put on a ton of muscle,” said Frelick.
“I just wanted to make sure I had a good offseason and built back the sort of body that would be ready for the long season.”

Adding more weight is something Frelick thought out the moment the season ended. It was initiated by Brewers strength and conditioning specialist Jason Meredith who even get him into protein powder to make his offseason preparations more efficient.
Frelick getting bigger will be a huge help for him to throw faster. He is looking to surpass the .259/.320/.335 he recorded in 145 games.
Other things that stood out in Milwaukee Brewers spring training
Frelick is not the only must watch on the first day of the Brewers’ spring training.
Pitcher Brandon Woodruff returned to the field after recovery from injury.
Talking to reporters post-game, he said he was nervous to pitch again but it went way better than he expected.
“Obviously, I was nervous and jittery,” Woodruff said. “It’s the first time in a year-and-a-half, but I felt good. I think it went a lot better than I expected it to. I needed this. I needed to face hitters.”

Freddy Peralta is another Brewers that got big news. He was expected during the spring training but what many fans did not see coming is him becoming the starting pitcher on opening day.
Even Peralta himself was surprised by the development.
“I want to keep it my [whole] career. You never know how long it’s going to be, but it’s something I feel good about,” he said about getting picked as a starter.
