Green Bay Packers: AJ Dillon Posts Emotional Message to Fans After Signing with Super Bowl Contenders

Last week, it was reported that former Green Bay Packers running back AJ Dillon had singed a one-year contract with the Philadelphia Eagles. The former 2020 second round pick did not play at all last season after suffering a neck injury in one of Green Bay’s preseason games. He had previously signed a one-year contract to remain with team following the expiration of his rookie deal.

Even though the Packers had brought him back, many wondered how he would fit on the roster. Josh Jacobs was signed in free agency, Marshawn Lloyd was drafted in the third round, and Emanuel Wilson had impressed whenever he was given the opportunity to play.

As it turned out, both Dillon and Lloyd missed the 2024 NFL season (Lloyd did appear in one game, but did not receive much playing time) due to injury. The Packers went with a running back room of Jacobs, Wilson, and Chris Brooks. With Lloyd hopefully healthy next year, there was simply no room on the roster for Dillon.

Though the signing became official last week, Dillon posted his farewell to the Packers organization and fans on Monday:

“I want to take a moment and thank the entire Green Bay Packers organization, my teammates, and the incredible fans for an unforgettable five years. Wisconsin became so much more than just the place where I played football, it became home. It’s where I grew up, started my family, and made memories I’ll cherish forever.

“It was an honor to wear the “G” and represent such a special organization. I’m grateful for the relationships built, lessons learned, and the unwavering support from Packers fans everywhere. You embraced me and my family from day one, and we are forever thankful.

“The Dillon Family Foundation will continue working to make an impact in Wisconsin. Green Bay will always hold a special place in my heart.”

Dillon ended his tenure with the Packers with 2,428 rushing yards and 16 rushing touchdowns.
