The Milwaukee Brewers, along with every other team, recently had their top 30 prospect list updated. With that the top 100 was also changed. This update has five Brewers in the top 100 and has their farm system ranked second overall by prospect points. Lets take a further look at what the three analysts had to say about Milwaukee’s farm system.
Three analysts praise the Milwaukee Brewers farm system.
The analysis of the Brewers farm system was provided by a combination of Jim Callis, Sam Dykstra, and Jonathan Mayo.
For the first time in six years, the Brewers boast five Top 100 prospects, and moving beyond that timeframe, this might be the best collection of Minor League talent Milwaukee has had in recent memory. Brewers fans are already seeing the fruits of that with Sal Frelick’s arrival in the Majors, and the other four (Jackson Chourio, Jeferson Quero, Jacob Misiorowski, Tyler Black) could all be MLB options by next year. While it may seem like Milwaukee’s talent is concentrated on the top levels, the organization also had one of the deepest Draft classes of 2023, including snagging No. 45 Draft prospect Cooper Pratt in the sixth round
Separate from the rest Sam Dykstra had this to say about the major league potential of some players as well as bubble top 100 prospects.
“This group ties those for most Brewers on a Top 100 in Pipeline history, but it’s safe to say those other years didn’t match the heights of this quintet. I feel comfortable saying all five are going to be Major League contributors (Sal Frelick is already there), though we got some feedback that some evaluators still view Misiorowski as a potential reliever. I think there’s enough control in there to allay some of that, but if he became a right-handed Josh Hader, that’s still pretty valuable. [Robert] Gasser and even [Carlos] Rodriguez got some Top 100 consideration, too.”
The Brewers last had five Top 100 players on the 2017 midseason list (Lewis Brinson, Corey Ray, Luis Ortiz, Brandon Woodruff and Keston Hiura). It is exciting to think that we could see some of these players (Robert Gasser, Jacob Misiorowski, Tyler Black) as soon as later this year, but also comforting knowing that beyond this core of top prospects the 2023 draft class provided depth to keep the farm system strong.
