Rowdy Tellez to IL
It was announced via the Brewers’ Twitter account that Rowdy Tellez would be placed on the 10-day injured list with right forearm inflammation. This comes just a day after a tough 7-6 loss against the Chicago Cubs on the Fourth of July.
Tellez hasn’t been an offensive powerhouse like he normally is; In his last 87 plate appearances, he’s slashed .136/.184/.173 and hasn’t hit a homer since May 22. He’s 20-for-121 (.165) and batting a career worst of .388.
This trip to the injury list could be the reasoning behind his below average performance, or it could be a way to give Tellez a well-needed mental break.
Mike Brosseau Designated for Assignment
Mike Brosseau was optioned to Triple-A Nashville a month ago when Luis Urias returned from the injury list. Prior to being optioned, he was batting only .205/.256/.397 with four homeruns and an OPS of .654. Brosseau hadn’t been performing in Nashville either, slashing .188/.232/.375.
Additional Roster Moves
The Brewers also made a couple of roster moves besides the Brosseau and Tellez news. Brian Anderson was reinstated from the paternity list; Him and his wife welcomed their son Baker Wyatt Anderson on the Fourth of July.
LHP Clayton Andrews and RHP JB Bukauskas were optioned to Triple-A Nashville while RHP Tyson Miller and RHP J.C. Mejia were called up from Triple-A Nashville.
Bukauskas had two relief appearances during his brief stay with the Brewers, and Andrews ran up five runs over two appearances in 1.2 innings of work in just four brief days with the crew.
LHP Thomas Pannone was also released by the team.
