The Milwaukee Brewers are an organization that tends to utilize a lot of different players in order to successfully navigate a 162 game season. Minor league options, or the ability to send a player on the 40-man roster to and from the major and minor leagues, is one way that they accomplish this.
All professional baseball players start with three seasons worth of minor league options. The number of times a player can be shuttled from the active roster to the minor leagues in a given year has been restricted to five. If a player has no minor league options remaining they have to be placed on waivers and clear that before remaining in that organization.
Milwaukee Brewers players that are out of minor league options for the 2024 season (8).
Per Fangraphs these eight players are out of minor league options.
- 1B Jake Bauers
- RHP Colin Rea
- RHP Joel Payamps
- RHP Bryse Wilson
- C Eric Haase
- DH Jahmai Jones
- RHP Thyago Vieira
- LHP J.B. Bukauskas
Similar to last season relievers Payamps and Wilson enter the year with no minor league options. Newcomers Bauers and Haase will need to remain on the active roster or risk being exposed to waivers. Lastly mid-season additions from last year in Jones, Vieira, and Bukauskas are in a tough spot with no options remaining.
