The Milwaukee Brewers and Los Angeles Dodgers struck a deal on Wednesday, January 3 in which the organizations swapped left-handed pitchers. Bryan Hudson, a 6’8″ reliever who was recently designated for assignment by the Dodgers, is heading to the Crew in exchange for 2023 draft pick Justin Chambers.
Milwaukee Brewers fans react to the trade news of receiving a bullpen weapon from the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Love it. Hudson had a 35.7% K rate in Triple-A last season. Gets a lot of whiffs with his four-seamer due to a flat VAA.
Hudson has two minor-league options remaining and adds a left-handed reliever to complement Hoby Milner. https://t.co/9lMl4B569o

He pitched in 6 MLB games. No one should care what his results were in that small of a sample.

I’m pretty intrigued by Hudson. Losing Chambers is unfortunate, but I could see Hudson being a very valuable reliever, with options, this year.
Chambers is super interesting, but a teenager coming off Tommy John is a lottery ticket that most likely wouldn’t cash until ~ 2030 https://t.co/sPn1CbCx6U

I know I’m a prospect hugger, but…
Shipping out Chambers, who signed the largest bonus of any of the Day 3 picks last year, for a guy who was DFAed, plus potentially another PTBNL, feels like an overpay
I like Hudson, he can be a good ‘pen addition, but the value feels off https://t.co/NnJaeS77ja

Some things for #brewers fans to note when looking over Bryan Hudson: https://t.co/pwPZ3T670K pic.twitter.com/akakiFZZie

The #Dodgers return for the already DFA’d Bryan Hudson is higher than I expected
That should tell you why LA likely tried to avoid letting Hudson go. Other teams wanted him before he hit waivers, and I’m guessing the Brewers had to beat another offer to end up at this price

I really liked chambers in the draft last year but this is fine
Hudson can help the team now and I think his stuff should play well
If there’s something I trust the brewers to do it’s evaluating pen arms. https://t.co/oBWubpNbOq

He was on the 40 man protected roster for a reason with the Dodgers. The Brewers stole him….

Brewers historically have done well finding relievers on the off-season, this pick up appears to have potential.
