The Milwaukee Brewers added three batters to their lineup this summer and all have provided positive impacts. Carlos Santana and Mark Canha were acquired prior to the trade deadline and Josh Donaldson was signed after being released by the New York Yankees.

One big reason why Matt Arnold elected to sign Josh Donaldson was because of his post season experience. The 2023 Milwaukee Brewers are a very young team, so adding a veteran like Josh Donaldson in addition to Mark Canha and Carlos Santana has benefited the team in more ways than just on field production.

Recently Josh Donaldson spoke out on his opportunity with the Brew Crew and how he is not taking it for granted.
Milwaukee Brewers Josh Donaldson not taking an opportunity to play for a contending team for granted.
Despite having a statistically down season that was compiled by injuries with the Yankees, Josh Donaldson has found himself in the lineup more often times than not with the Brewers. His ability to slug the ball has provided a boost to the offense and of his seven hits four of them have gone for extra bases. Overall this season he has 22 hits between both organization with 15 of them being either a double (three) or home run (12).
When asked about his season so far, Josh Donaldson acknowledged his home run per plate appearance ratio and also indicated he was pleased with his at-bats.
“I feel like overall for the better part of the year, I’ve made pretty solid contact and had good at-bats. It’s just a weird year. It’s probably the lowest per plate appearances that I’m hitting home runs. I feel like that’s an indication that I’m having good at-bats.”

As for his time with Milwaukee and the post season that lies ahead, he is taking nothing for granted.
“Obviously it’s really nice to be in a good environment where the team is having success. To be a part of that and to contribute to that aspect of doing whatever I can to help the team win, that’s the player I’ve wanted to be my entire career. And I feel like I’ve done a pretty good job of over the course of my tenure.”
“There can’t be enough said of how the guys have really made me feel comfortable here. And being plugged into the lineup of a contender regularly, I don’t take that for granted.”
Josh Donaldson figures to play a key role with the Brewers throughout the rest of his tenure. He is getting chances against both right and left-handed pitchers while also playing excellent defense at third base.
