The Milwaukee Brewers have added Josh Donaldson to their big league roster after he spent a week and a half in the minor leagues getting some regular at-bats. Prior to this rookie Andrew Monasterio had been the primary third baseman. This means Craig Counsell will have to manage playing time for these two going forward and he did shed some light on the plan going forward.

Milwaukee Brewers manager Craig Counsell sheds light on the plan going forward at third base after the team added Josh Donaldson.
During a media session Craig Counsell provided the following statement regarding the plan at third base going forward.
“Andruw’s had a good season. He’s had a good season in totality. You’re still going to see Andruw at third base. There’s going to be Andruw at third base for sure. This just, in our eyes, gives us another option. Kind of like ‘Let’s see what happens here.’ There’s some runway to play with off the bat with the lefties (starting for Miami) and with Yelich being down. There’s some ways to move guys around here and the need to try to get everybody an off-day in this stretch as well. Andruw’s versatility help’s that. There’s some runway here. But I think Andruw has earned at-bats at third base, still.
Diving into this quote from Craig Counsell it sounds like Andruw Monasterio will still get playing time both at third base and elsewhere in the infield. It also sounds like Josh Donaldson may get a good initial look to ‘see what happens’. Hopefully both can contribute and be impact players for the Brewers down the stretch.
