The Milwaukee Brewer and Cincinnati Reds will square off on Friday, July 6 for a three game series that leads into the All-Star break. Afterwards they will meet six more times in July and won’t meet again for the remainder of the regular season. With the Reds currently leading the National League Central by two games these next nine games could have serious playoff implications.
In early June these two teams met for a four game series at Great American Ball Park. Milwaukee took three out of four games. Upon that series ending Cincinnati called up highly regarded prospect Elly De La Cruz. Since then they have been on a hot streak that included a 12 game winning streak.
All of this makes the stakes of their upcoming series high and one Cincinnati player had some strong words on how they felt about the upcoming series.

Cincinnati Reds players are ‘pissed’ and looking for revenge against the Milwaukee Brewers.
Reds catcher Curt Casali is not happy with the outcome of the June series and is hoping to stick it to the Brewers during their upcoming series in July.
“I don’t know exactly what kind of impact it is numerically, but I think we’re pissed about the last series. That’s all we can be. They beat us three out of four times. We salvaged one at the end, but they kicked our ass.
“And regardless of what we are in the standings and what they are in the standings, when a team whups you, you want to give it back to them.
“That’s pretty much our only mindset right now.”
It should be interesting to see how these nine games play out for both teams. There should be a playoff atmosphere to all of the games and it should be a lot of fun to watch.

Fair comment by Casali.
What I’d want my guys to feel if I was their manager.
Should be a good series and you know the Reds are excited to have De La Cruz in the lineup, they want to see if this changes the balance between the Brewers and the Reds..
Brewers can’t afford a letdown after the Cubs series split.
Looking forward to it!
They’re scoring LESS against Milwaukee with De La Cruz in the lineup. 3 straight shutouts, how much of Cincinnati do the Brewers own?
