Milwaukee Brewers star outfielder Christian Yelich has missed a lot of time this September due to a back issue. He has had injuries to his low back plague him in years past, but this year, with the playoffs looming, the timing is not ideal and the team will have to make a massive decision regarding him soon.
Massive decision regarding Milwaukee Brewers star Christian Yelich to be made soon.
On Friday night against the Washington Nationals Christian Yelich made a game appearance for the first time in a week for the last game he played in prior to that came in New York against the Yankees. In that Nationals game he went 0-3 with two strikeouts and one walk. He did not finish the game and Tyrone Taylor replaced him in the ninth inning.
After the game on Friday he sat out the remainder of the series and again is not in the starting lineup on Monday against the St. Louis Cardinals. According to Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel he did do more pregame activity, but Craig Counsell said a decision to place him on the IL or not will have to come by tomorrow.
Should Christian Yelich end up on the 10-day IL, it could be retroactive to Saturday, September 16. He then would not be eligible to be activated until the last week of the month when there is less than one week left in the regular season.
There is still time for Christian Yelich to get this back issue under control, but the clock is ticking quickly.
