The Milwaukee Brewers had a talented and stacked outfield last season and it’ll continue to get stronger as the rookies come in and make their big league debuts. Leading the way in the outfield is none other than Christian Yelich.
Christian Yelich’s Stats in Milwaukee
Yelich is 32 years old and played in 144 games last season for the Brewers. He had a .278 batting average, OBP of .370 with 19 home runs and 76 RBIs, along with 28 stolen bases.
Milwaukee finished with a 92-70 record last season and won the National League Central before losing in the National League Wild Card Series against the Arizona Diamondbacks in the first round.
Along with Yelich in the outfield, Garrett Mitchell, Sal Frelick, Jackson Chourio, Blake Perkins, and Joey Wiemer are projected to be the other outfielders on the roster this season.
According to CBS Sports, they are projecting the Brewers outfield to be Yelich in left field, rookie sensation Jackson Chourio in center field, and Sal Frelick in right field.
They believe that Mitchell, Weimer, and Perkins will be the backups this season for the Brewers. They have a loaded outfield, but it is a rather young outfield and Yelich is the veteran in that group.
Milwaukee Brewers Christian Yelich Projected Stats For the 2024 Season
Yelich’s days of being an elite baseball player appear to be over, but he is still going to be a big contributor in the Brewers lineup during the 2024 season. Harrison Freuck of brewcrewball.com said about Christian Yelich’s upcoming 2024 season:
“Yelich figures to serve as Milwaukee’s mainstay in the outfield, coming off back-to-back seasons in which he appeared in 140-plus games. In 144 games in 2023, Yelich bounced back from a few mediocre years to hit .278/.370/.447 with 19 homers, 76 RBIs, 153 hits, 106 runs, and 28 steals in 31 attempts.
He made 121 starts in left field for Milwaukee, providing average defense to go with his above-average offensive year. Now in his age-32 season, the key for Yelich will be health, as he can play every day — whether as the DH or in left — if he remains healthy.
In five games this spring, he’s collected three hits, including a triple, scored three runs, and driven in two. He’s projected by Baseball Reference to regress a little bit in 2024, with a line of .260/.357/.410 with 15 homers, 63 RBIs, 131 hits, 89 runs, and 20 steals.”
That would be a very nice season for him in 2024 if he were to stay healthy again. Yelich will be one of the better players on the Brewers roster. The best player may be catcher William Contreras. The outfielder that will need to break out this year is rookie Jackson Chourio.
