The Milwaukee Brewers were the 2023 National League Central division champions. Closely behind them were the Chicago Cubs and Cincinnati Reds. All three of these teams are looking to improve this off-season in order to win more games in 2024. but their division rival Cubs have been linked in trade rumors for one MVP candidate.
Milwaukee Brewers rival Chicago Cubs linked in trade rumors for Toronto Blue Jays star Bo Bichette.
According to Locked on Cubs podcast host Matt Cozzi Chicago has been exploring trade scenarios with the Toronto Blue Jays for Bo Bichette. This report made its way to MLB Network in which an entire segment was spent discussing these rumors.

On MLB Network Jon Morosi discussed how Bo Bichette emerged as a potential trade candidate for the Cubs last off-season. He also indicated that if Chicago is unable to retain Cody Bellinger then they will want to add a different big bat this off-season. Making a move for a big bat, like Bo Bichette, would also show Shohei Ohtani that they are serious about winning in which they are also in the mix for him.
If the Cubs were able to acquire Bo Bichette via trade they would have to part ways with several top prospects. Chicago does have a talented farm system, but they would have to give up quite a bit in order to receive two years of control of Bo Bichette. Additionally they would have to transition him to third base for they currently have Dansby Swanson at shortstop and gold glover Nico Hoerner at second base.
It will be interesting to see if anything comes of these trade rumors or not. For Milwaukee Brewers fans they have to be hoping that their former manager Craig Counsell does not get more weapons to deploy against them, but already Chicago has shown that they are willing to make big moves so anything is possible.
